BGR Review vs Yotpo

A neutral, feature-by-feature look at two very different reputation tools. BGR Review is a pay-after-success review management and removal specialist covering Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Clutch, Facebook and BBB. Yotpo is an ecommerce marketing platform covering on-site product reviews, photo & video UGC, loyalty, subscriptions and SMS/email flows for DTC brands.

Choose BGR Review to remove damaging off-platform reviews, recover suspended profiles, and run targeted campaigns without a monthly contract. Choose Yotpo when the priority is collecting on-site product reviews, UGC and loyalty inside a Shopify, BigCommerce or Magento store.

Main difference

BGR Review works on off-platform reviews (Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Facebook). Yotpo works on on-site product reviews and ecommerce marketing. They solve different halves of the reputation problem.

Overlap

Both help ecommerce brands collect and display reviews. Many DTC brands run Yotpo on-site and BGR Review off-site, together — not instead of each other.

Who should choose BGR Review

Businesses with an active off-platform reputation problem: fake 1-stars, competitor sabotage, ex-employee smears, or a suspended Google Business Profile. Removal is the primary need, not another marketing app.

Agencies that want to resell reputation services and need a white-label removal and acquisition partner they can invoice per outcome.

Local businesses on Google, Trustpilot, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Clutch, Facebook or BBB — none of which Yotpo covers meaningfully.

Ecommerce brands already running Yotpo on-site who need a specialist for the off-site star rating that Yotpo can't touch.

Who should choose Yotpo

DTC ecommerce brands on Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Magento or Salesforce Commerce Cloud that want product reviews under every PDP with photo, video and Q&A.

Brands that want loyalty, subscriptions, referrals and SMS/email marketing inside one vendor instead of stitching Klaviyo + LoyaltyLion + Recharge + Stamped together.

Ecommerce teams that need Google Seller Ratings syndication for Google Shopping ads.

Growth-stage brands whose reputation problem is "not enough reviews on my product pages" rather than "fake reviews on my Google or Trustpilot profile."

How to choose (and why businesses compare these two)

Yotpo and BGR Review show up in the same shortlist because both promise "more and better reviews." In practice they operate on different surfaces. Yotpo owns the reviews inside your store — the ones under each product on your Shopify site. BGR Review owns the reviews outside your store — the ones on Google, Trustpilot, Yelp and the other public platforms customers actually search. The FTC's 16 CFR §465 fake-reviews rule (in force since 21 October 2024) applies to both surfaces, but the removal discipline it created lives off-site, which is where BGR Review works.

Before committing to either, decide: (1) is the primary bottleneck on-site product reviews on your own storefront, or off-site star ratings on third-party platforms; (2) do you need loyalty, subscriptions and SMS in the same tool; (3) do you want outcome pricing or subscription pricing. The right answer for many DTC brands is both: Yotpo on-site, BGR Review off-site.
